Looking for PEACE

This tale is the product of teamwork from all of the students involved in the project: "My online audio library." It is also the conviction that PEACE is both possible and vital! Congratulation to all!

  •  Looking for PEACE

    •   Once upon a time, there were two villages named Sunrise and Sunset. Sunrise was a peaceful village covered with forests, where the weather was always clear and sunny, and people were respectful, loving, and helpful to each other.

This peaceful village had a leader named Gerald. The peaceful leader Gerald ruled the village with his wife Luna, sons Olive and William, and their precious daughter Sonya. But there was a place that was against this village... The Sunset village. This village was an untidy, poor place known for the evil of its leader. This village was in chaos and darkness at all hours of the day. The evil leader Harold ruled the village with his wife Helena and their adopted child, Elliot. There was a merchant who traded between the two villages. Sunrise and Sunset bought food, clothing, many supplies, etc. from this merchant. The merchant loved the Sunset village very much because there were no rules and the merchant could easily make unfair profits. However, there were certain rules in the village of Sunrise. The merchant couldn't make much money there. That's why he didn't like Sunrise Village. One day...

One day the merchant didn't turn up for an important business meeting at the court of Gerald, the leader of Sunrise. After being ordered by the leader, people began to inquire about the condition of the merchant and found out that he would settle in Sunset because he earned much more there. Meanwhile, the court noticed that the precious daughter Sonya couldn’t be found. Her parents, who were worried about her, closed the entrances and exits of the city thinking that their daughter was still there.

In the meantime, beyond the city walls, the merchant met Elliot, the son of the leader Harold who thanked him with a large sum of money for helping Sonya escape to let the two lovers be reunited. Gerald got very angry and decided he was going to attack Sunset, the enemy kingdom.

Wasting no time, Gerald announced to his people that he was going to assemble an army of volunteers. To prepare for the war, he and his assistant sent a letter to the merchant with a list of missing materials. The merchant, who received the letter, set out for Sunrise village. The merchant met Sonya and Elliot on the way. The merchant couldn't stand it any longer and asked excitedly. "Do you know that King Gerald is preparing for the battle against Sunset village?" Confused and tearful, the couple panicked.

Since the merchant had to rush to Sunrise village and deliver the supplies, he hurried off. When he reached Sunrise village, King Gerald saw him in front of him. King Gerald angrily asked why he was late. The merchant was torn between two choices. Should he tell the truth or tell a lie? After some inner conflict, the merchant decided to tell the truth. He said that he had met Sonya and Elliot on the way to the village. When King Gerald heard this, he was very angry and shouted at the merchant. When the king's anger subsided, he ordered his army to prepare for battle, and he himself began to prepare. The two kings signed a treaty that women and children would not be harmed in the war. They were about to start the war when Sonya and Elliot came back to convince their fathers...

Both families were surprised by the sudden appearance of the couple but they were also happy because they thought that now they could end this nonsense. But Sonya and Elliot seemed really determined about their decision and they had no intention of changing their minds. Sonya stepped forward and told her family to think about it: if they got married it could affect the relations of these two villages positively and ensure the reconciliation of the people. Gerald and Luna had always been peaceful so they accepted the situation. King Harold and Queen Helena also agreed with them but they had some dirty thoughts on their minds.

Ancient legends said that there was a cave in the lands of Sunrise. This cave, which hid the entrance to the very fertile, rich, and magical lands, was guarded by dragons. Even the idea of these rich lands was enough to make the Sunset’s rulers dizzy and he had dreamt of a chance to have it for so long.  Now, the opportunity he had been waiting for was just in front of him. At Sunrise’s most unprepared moment, the soldiers of Sunset would Sunrise. The king called the merchant. He told him about this land and promised him a big reward.  Finally, the merchant accepted the offer. All he had to do was not provide any food or weapons to Sunrise and stop trading with them. In that way, they would weaken Sunrise even more.

Meanwhile, Elliot was quite suspicious of the fact that his family hadn’t resisted at all and had accepted what he and Sonya had said. He finally understood their plans and he had to tell Sonya’s family about this because he was nothing like his family and he was certainly against the war.

King Gerald and Queen Luna got really anxious and started to prepare for an unexpected war. They tried to reach the merchant to get some essential goods, but it was in vain... Now the inhabitants of Sunrise were desperate. Soon they were going to run out of food and weapons. But they couldn’t let Sunset take over the cave. While thinking about what they should do to protect their land and people, an idea came to Queen Luna’s mind: It was time to take out their dragons from that cave...

The dragons were known for their indestructible skin and fire breath which could kill a man in seconds. They guarded the cave for ages and no man had ever managed to slay them. And so, the king formed a company of the bravest and strongest knights to slay the dragons and take over the magical lands before the king of Sunset could do so. His eldest son, Oliver was to guide the company for he was the best knight of all of them.

Their journey lasted 3 days and finally, they saw the majestic golden dragons at the entry to the cave. But there was something odd about them. They did not seem so dangerous. Prince Oliver decided to do some reconnoitering and went to speak to the dragons. As it turned out, they were rather friendly, when nobody tried to kill them. Prince Oliver asked the dragons if the people of Sunrise could see the magical land behind the cave but the dragons said that it was impossible. "Only if the kingdom of Sunrise and Sunset unite and be ruled with peace, will they be able to see what is behind the cave", they answered.

Prince Oliver knew exactly what that meant. Sonya and Eliot must be crowned King and Queen. He thanked the dragons and promised to prevent anyone from trying to kill them since they did no harm to society. The dragons were thankful to the young prince. They gave him a horn with which he could call them when in need. After that, he quickly came back with the company to the castle and gave his little sister the great news.

But what they did not know was that the merchant had heard their conversation. He was against the union of the kingdom because a new union would mean new rules and new rules would mean his job would be harder. He decided to prevent the marriage of the young lovers...

After hearing their conversation, the merchant thought about a plan to prevent the marriage. He had a plan but he needed someone to help him with his plan. So he went to King Harold because he thought that the king was evil enough to do this.

He went to the kingdom and found the king. After talking about daily matters, the merchant told him about his plan. He said that the marriage was not good for both of the kingdoms. When the king asked: ''What should we do?'', the merchant told him about how Elliot and Sonya's love was just puppy love and if they did not see each other for a while, they would forget about each other. The king did not want them to marry too, so he thought about it for a while and shook his head with a determined face. The merchant smiled and left the palace.

After the merchant left, the king went to his son's room and they had a small conversation about why he wanted to marry Sonya so much. Elliot got mad and tried to leave the palace but he learned that he could not leave. The king said his decision was not going to change until Elliot convinced his dad that he had forgotten Sonya and did not want to marry her anymore. Elliot went to his room in a hurry. He was really angry and he wanted to get out of there so much. He started to hate his home because it was not his home anymore. Sonya was his home and he told himself, ''I will never forget her.''

After a week passed the king wanted to see his son. But Elliot did not, he was still mad at his dad. The king learned that Elliot had not eaten, drunk, or slept since he was trapped in his house. The king was very confused and did not know what to do...

Another thing that he did not know was the fact the prince was no longer in the castle. One day he was over his son’s sulking and burst into his room. To his surprise, he found an empty space and the only thing that was left was the order of the Sunrise court. Meanwhile, in the second village, the situation was just as bad. To everyone's horror, Oliver and Sonya were nowhere to be found. King Gerald was furious and at the same time, he was apprehensive. He suspected that King Harold had kidnapped his beloved children. And they started to prepare for a battle of life and death. Days passed and the war was inexorably approaching. On the twelfth day of the month, they met at 12:00 hour on the border of the two kingdoms.

The fight began. It was a horrific nightmare. War such as this one had never been seen in this region. When hope began to fade, everyone heard a loud sound. Then they could not believe what they were seeing. Out of nowhere, a pack of golden dragons appeared above them. What was even more surprising was the presence of the three missing children on these mystical animals. They barged into the middle of the battle and announced that they had escaped on their own and no one had abducted them. They also said that the two lovers had married secretly because their love was undeniable. Oliver told everyone about the situation of the dragons and explained that the sound they heard was the horn he had received from the legendary animals. Because of their actions, Elliot and Sonya became the King and the Queen of the magical land behind the cave. They announced that everyone could join them in their land under one condition: all conflicts and prejudice must end. They agreed with uncertainty and flew to the land of the dragons. The story ends here. After a lot of hard work and unnecessary losses, peace has come.

Clube de Jovens Unidos

“Jovens unidos para doar sorrisos”

No segundo período, a Biblioteca Escolar aceitou a desafio colocado pela Shohreh Shahidyan, no sentido de criar um clube de voluntariado na nossa escola. Dele fazem parte alunos do 10º e do 11º anos.
